Owl Appliqué

Check out my free pattern for these cute Owl appliqués that I designed for my Ocean Waves blanket.  I’m sharing the pattern with you all – there are 2 different designs!

Inspiration

 both_owls

I was making a blanket for a friend and it included adding a pair of owls onto it.  Using the same colors as the blanket, I made these appliqués and had to choose amongst them for the blanket.  I figured I could share the pattern for these!  There’s actually a pattern for 2 different ones, a bigger one made with single crochet and a smaller, simpler one made with double crochet.

Materials

  • 5 mm crochet hook
  • Worsted weight yarn of your choice
  • Tapestry needle
  • Optional: stitch marker

Stitches

(click here for a good instruction guide for basic stitches)

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • magic ring (instructions here)
