Super Squishy Slippers
These slippers feel amazing and they were really fun to make. Check out the free pattern!
I’ve been knitting for a couple years (and crocheting forever), so sometimes how things are constructed in the knit world still fascinate me. My sister-in-law sent me a photo on Pinterest and asked if I could make them. Obviously, I said yes! Here’s the Pin: (this is not my image!)
I had just finished making Finn Shoes, so I figured the construction would be similar. Cuff, short row heel, work in the round to the toe and bind off. However, these were totally different and (dare I say) way more fun! They’re constructed flat using circular needles and then are sewn at the bottom middle of the sole and up the back of the ribbed cuff. So they worked up really fast!
My colours didn’t FULLY match the picture but I think I did a pretty good replication! My local yarn store was out of the yarn I was planning to use so I had to switch to a different one and the blue wasn’t exactly right, but it works. I ended up using Berroco Vintage DK, which is a wool/acrylic blend. The pattern is worked double-stranded so I used a white and a grey for the main colour and double-stranded the blue for the sole.
Trust me, there is some serious squish here!
These look great with the cuff folded or straight up. I used a stretchy long-tail cast on.

Here it is! Nola’s Knitted Slippers on Ravelry and a direct link. I did 30 rows of the ribbing and switched to the blue colour after 6 rows of the garter stitch after shaping the toe. I used the Kitchener stitch to close the sole seam. I worked it all on 4mm circular needles with DK yarn and they comfortably would fit a women’s US size 7-10 no problem.
More photos below! (Yes, I took pictures of the reflection in a mirror because I was home alone!)
Happy Crafting my friends!
